Have you ever heard someone say, “I would love to attend events at the
Flint Institute of Arts, but I have never been invited”? As regular museum
goers we often take it for granted that our friends, colleagues and neighbors
know how easy it is to become a member and share our understanding of the value
of the “art experience” and the tangible benefits of a museum membership.
We know that members are special guests at exhibition openings, receptions and
lectures and that members receive discounts for classes in the Art School, Museum
Shop, Art Sales and Rental Gallery and The Café. Upper level memberships
receive reciprocal benefits at 11 other art museums in Michigan and 140 nationwide.
Rubens Society members attend dinners with world-renowned guest lecturers and
travel to see remarkable private collections.
We also may take for granted the intangibles of membership; entrée into
an exciting world of art that inspires, provokes, informs and entertains; the
museum as a wonderful destination for family and friends to spend quality time
together; a place to contemplate while surrounded by beautiful objects; or a
place to enjoy social encounters with new acquaintances or old friends.
All of us at the FIA hope you will enjoy your new art institute. Please visit
often and bring a friend.
