| Opening Celebration and Ceremony Crowds of visitors joined
in the celebration of the opening of the new Charles Stewart Mott Gallery
Wing and the exhibition Excavating Egypt: Great Discoveries from the
Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, University College London. Congratulatory remarks were made by William Hartman, President of Citizens Bank, the reopening sponsor. Ribbons were cut at the entrance to the Gallery Wing by William S. White, President of the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation; the Dow Gallery by Margaret Ann Riecker, President of The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation; and the Johnson Gallery by Mary Alice Heaton and Linda LeMieux, the daughters of Donald and Alice Johnson. The fresco mural by Hurbert Massey was unveiled and the galleries were opened to the public. |
