The FIA has recently received several impressive new gifts to the Asian Collection, such as the life-sized Song Dynasty (960–1279) wood carving of the Seated Guanyin Bodhisattva as well as a sandstone Buddha head from India (ca. 11th–12th century). Other important Buddhist sculptures made of marble, limestone, wood, and bronze from Japan, Thailand, and Cambodia are included in the Asian Collection. Among the highlights are ancient Indian vessels depicting yakshas and yakshis, male and female divinities, and a stone Hindu sculpture, dating from the 10th–11th century. Other works in the collection include jades, tomb guardian figures, bronze vessels, and a ceramic tortoise as well as the FIA's impressive Chinese snuff bottle collection.
