Teen classes are designed to build a solid foundation in drawing, color theory, and 3-D design principles. These classes provide a powerful means of expression for the teen experience and supplement their high school art portfolio.

Teen Wheel Throwing
Jeff Hageman
Have you ever seen someone throwing and thought, “I’ve got to try that!” Learn the basic pottery skills of centering, pulling up, shaping, and tooling along with clay preparation and exploring the versatility of throwing tools. Then you’ll be throwing! Wear old clothes and get ready!

Drawing From the Masters

Constructing an Image II

Bring a 35mm camera and turn snap shots into art photography! Focus on light, composition, and subject matter as it relates to the history of photography as you learn traditional darkroom processes! Students will enjoy a presentation about the history of photography. A few cameras are available on loan but must be reserved upon registration.

Manga Madness

Do you love Japanese comics and cartoons? This twelve-week course will show you how to design your own set of manga characters, then tell their story in a dynamic and compelling manga panel! Teen Impressions: Drawing from Observation

Students will learn to draw not just from sight, but from the senses! Learn to enjoy the simplicity of line, then incorporate contour, texture, value, and composition using graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, and totally non-traditional materials! In this mind-expanding class, we’ll have projects to build skill for beginners, as well as intrigue the more practiced young artist.
