Comprised of 60 paintings, Masterpieces of European Painting from the Museo de Arte de Ponce provides audiences with an unforgettable experience of timeless works of art that traverse the stylistic development of the European painting tradition, from the early 14th century to the late 19th century.
The collection features outstanding works from important periods of European art, including Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Neo-Classical, Academic, and the Pre-Raphaelite.
Among the many masters included in the exhibition are works by Anthony van Dyke, Lucas Cranach the Elder, Gustave Doré, Jean-Léon Gérôme, Francisco de Goya, Angelica Kauffman, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, Jusepe de Ribera, Peter Paul Rubens, James Tissot, and Francisco de Zurbarán.
The collection from the Museo de Arte de Ponce in Puerto Rico is traveling to only a few select North American institutions and the Flint Institute of Arts is the only Midwest venue.
