Target Free Saturdays will once again be available
for the 2007–2008 exhibition season! Funding from this initiative
supports free admission to the Temporary Exhibition Galleries every
Saturday to all visitors of the FIA.
In 2005, Target initiated sponsorship of Target Free Saturdays for
the grand reopening exhibition, Andy Warhol: A to Z. In
2006, the FIA received funding for the entire exhibition schedule.
The result of the partnership was 14,251 Target Free Saturday visitors
to view Excavating Egypt, After Lewis
and Clark, and Artists of the Great Lakes.
This grant is part of ongoing efforts by Target to strengthen families
and communities throughout the country. Since opening its doors,
Target has given 5% of its income to organizations that support
education, the arts and safe families and communities. Today that
translates to $3 million every week.
“At Target, we are making a real difference everyday through
our grant-making program,” said Laysha Ward, Vice President
of Community Relations. “We’re proud to partner with
the Flint Institute of Arts as part of our ongoing commitment to
give back to the communities where our guests and team members live
and work.”
