This elaborate two-part cabinet has many striking features, yet displays an overall harmony of design. Four cabinet doors and two drawer fronts, as well as the cabinet’s sides and borders, all bear intricate carvings. The doors are carved with figures in fantastical architectural niches surrounded by hybrid human figures and perched mythical creatures. The vertical band that separates the two upper cabinet doors bears a breastplate and shield with a lightning bolt above a female figure holding one breast. The top is surmounted by a broken pediment decorated with a prominent sculpture featuring three cupids among foliage and ornamental carvings. The bottom part of the cabinet is slightly wider than the top part, and thus serves as its base.
