Very little is known about artist Paul Vernon. Born in Paris in the mid-nineteenth century, he exhibited a number of oil paintings at the Paris Salon from 1874 to 1882. He is particularly well known for his plein-air landscapes of the French countryside, of which Landscape with Cow is an excellent example.
