Nature, fantasy, and the subconscious mind inspire Victor Chiarizia [Cha-rih-zee-uh]. His fondness for the environment, which stems from childhood memories of fig trees and flowers, have given way to fantastical creations. The organic aspect of this work, evident in Enigma of Fulfillment, serves as a metaphor for life, including the potential for growth and renewal. According to the artist his sculptures are discoveries: living, breathing creations that often take on human characteristics. The lines between nature, humankind, and fantasy have been blurred. Look closely at this small sculpture from his Botanical Series. Little red tongues stick out of each flower pod transforming them from simple flora to lively creatures.
