Flameworking Demonstration with Jeff Heath

Date calendar  Sunday, June 23, 2019
Time clock  1:00pm - 5:00pm (4h)
Location FIA Hot Shop

We are excited to announce that visiting glass artist Jeff Heath will offer two days of flameworking demonstrations in the FIA Hot Shop! on Sunday June 23 and Monday June 24. Jeff is an Illinois based artist who uses the process of flameworking to construct intricate mixed-media sculptures that reference the depletion of natural resources and urban expansion. Two of Jeff’s artworks are featured in "From the Flame," a juried exhibition of flameworked glass on view from June 29 through October 6 at the FIA.

Sunday, 6.23 | 1:00p-5:00p – Jeff will work throughout the day creating extraordinary glass pieces using flameworking techniques. The demonstrations are free and open to the public, thanks to McLaren Health Care.

Monday, 6.24 | 10:00p-3:00p – Jeff will offer a lecture/demo class (no hands-on work for students) that will highlight murrini (colored patterns or images in glass) and vessel construction. Students will learn how artists combine established techniques with personal visual language to create original work. The class is free, however space is limited. Please call or email to reserve your seat.
