The Eight and a New American Art

In conjunction with the exhibition American Realism: Visions of America 1900–1950, this talk by Associate Curator Rachael Holstege will discuss the artists who made up the group known as “The Eight.” Frustrated by the restrictions of academic art in the early 20th century, eight artists joined together to mount their own ground-breaking exhibition. The collective members, their art, and their disruption of the status-quo would forever change the face of American art.
