Filmed in 1972 at a Los Angeles church but unseen for decades until shortly after the death last year of Detroit’s “Queen of Soul,” Amazing Grace has overcome legal and logistical roadblocks to finally come to the big screen.
To promote her new album of the same name as this 87-minute movie, Aretha Franklin sang for the cameras, and now you can hear her deliver “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” “Precious Memories,” “Mary Don’t You Weep,” “How I Got Over,” and other favorites.
Says Peter Travers of Rolling Stone magazine: “It’s the closest thing to witnessing a miracle — just some cameras, a crowd and a voice touched by God.”
Admission – $5 members, $6 non-members, $4 FOMA members
Film titles are subject to change.
