Fantastic Creatures and Where to Find Them in the Museum

From dragons to sphinxes, fantastical creatures have been used by artists to communicate meaning and tell complex stories. This talk looks at examples in the Asian and European collections to discover how these creatures function within different cultures. Talk given by Tracee Glab, Curator of Collections and Exhibitions.

Coffee with a Curator is a focused, theme-oriented presentation on a variety of topics related to the FIA’s permanent collection and special exhibitions. Presented by an FIA’s curators or an invited speaker, each talk allows time for questions or gallery exploration as well as coffee and tea service. The inaugural series of Coffee with a Curator explores “Nature and Its Symbols,” the relationship of art with nature, both real and imaginative.
