Dear Friends,

As we all know, it is a time to stay home and do everything we can to be safe. Although the Flint Institute of Arts facility is closed for now, we are pleased that you are visiting us online. Our hope is that, as you peruse this site, you are able to find inspiration and solace from the FIA’s great works of art and more.

Much has happened since we made the decision to close the museum and the Art School through May 10. The uncertainty of the timing and impact of the pandemic led us to err on the side of caution and cancel all classes, workshops, programs, tours, and events through June 30,2020. This includes: Sheppy Dog Fund Lectures, The Party, the Flint Art Fair, and Films presented by the Friends of Modern Art, just to name a few. We felt strongly that the pain this will cause the FIA, after all, is insignificant when the public’s safety is at stake.

In the meantime, the FIA’s works of art are well-protected and secured. FIA staff are working remotely on many ongoing projects, research, reports, and future planning.

Thank you for your virtual visit and again, please stay engaged through the website, flintarts.org, and the FIA’s social media. We hope that our virtual offerings are an interesting and informative diversion from the daily news reports and the uncertainty of the moment.

Watch this space as further decisions are made in the coming weeks. The staff and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Sincerely,
John Henry
Executive Director, Flint Institute of Arts
