Since the last renovation and addition in 2005, the FIA has served nearly two million visitors. As expected, the museum has incurred over a decade of wear and tear, creating a need to refresh its facility and furnishings.
On Monday, July 31, both the museum and Art School close to the public, so that work may begin on renovations and repairs throughout all areas. With visitor safety and enjoyment as our main concerns, we felt it best to close our building during this time, but you may still reach us Monday-Friday by calling 810.234.1695, until all the work is done.
The museum re-opens to the public on Saturday, September 16, with a reinstallation of the galleries, a new fall film series, and fresh looks for both the Palette Café and Museum Shop. All visitors will be free that day, thanks to the generosity of Huntington Bank.
During the FIA’s closure, we encourage you to visit other artful Michigan destinations, which are listed below. Some have offered special discounts to FIA members, so be sure to show your FIA membership card when you visit. If you are a NARM member ($100 and above), you may receive additional discounts, but be advised that you may receive mailings from some of these institutions with a schedule of their offerings.
We look forward to seeing you in September!
