Japanese prints have been popular in and outside of Japan for centuries. Capturing pilgrims to courtesans, what do these colorful and beautiful designs tell us about the rhythms of Japanese life and their appeal?  And, what don't they tell us? This lecture features works by 18th and 19th century Japanese artists from the permanent collection of the Flint Institute of Arts.
